ADEM

The Assembly District Election Meetings (ADEMs) are held every two years (Saturday, January 7 or Sunday, January 8 of 2017) to elect 7 women and 7 men to be Assembly District Delegates (ADDs) for their area.  ADDs are responsible for planning and attending informational meetings throughout the region and working with other delegates to represent their community. They are also elected by voters in their district to vote on behalf of the community they represent at Regional Meetings, the California Democrats Convention, and those who are also elected to serve as an Executive Board member are responsible for voting and representing their community at the semi-annual E-Board meetings.

Stanislaus County Goes Democratic in Latest Bad News for Jeff Denham and Trump Republicans
MODESTO – Stanislaus County is the latest California County where Democrats have seized the lead from Republicans in voter registration. Democrats now hold an 87,933 to 87,236 edge, according to latest numbers from the Stanislaus County Registrar of Voters.

Rep. Jeff Denham is locked in a close race with small business owner and Democratic Party-endorsed candidate Michael Eggman for Congressional District 10. Denham, a Donald Trump backer who again endorsed him in an oped in the Modesto Bee, has seen his support erode in a recent poll that shows Eggman within the margin of error in a November matchup.

“Democrats are leading in Stanislaus County because our candidates are committed to creating good jobs and recognizing everyone’s value,” said Stanislaus County Democratic Party Chair Joe A. Souza. “Republicans like Jeff Denham have sided with billionaire Donald Trump, and that is going to hurt them with voters in November.

As recently as 2014, Republicans held a nearly 10,000-voter edge. But Democratic voter registration efforts and the divisive campaign of Donald Trump have turned that around.

In the June 2016 primary Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders received nearly 10,000 more votes in Stanislaus County than the Republican candidates. In 2012, President Barack Obama defeated Republican Mitt Romney by 4,265 votes.

Democratic Party-endorsed incumbent state Sen. Cathleen Galgiani and Assemblymember Adam Gray both finished first in the June 2016 primary.
Stanislaus County joins Nevada, Trinity, Modoc, and Riverside Counties where Democrats now hold a voter registration edge since 2014.

Student Internships
can be key to growing the Party

What we Democrats in Stanislaus County need to do is have our Central Committee go to High Schools and MJC and the University to talk to school officials about offering students over 18 years of age internships through the SCDCC.
The students will acquire experience in civic participation for themselves and their resumes. The SCDCC will gain some young people to help with our voter registration campaign.
After the internship program these young people may even want to stay with our party as activists.

We all gain.

This type of Internship program was very successful in the recent Congressional District 10 campaign by recruiting young people into political activism and we need to learn from that experience.
