Discover Your Spiritual Gifts, November 5

posted Sep 12, 2016, 12:29 PM by Saint Albans   [ updated Sep 12, 2016, 12:29 PM ]

Spiritual gifts are given to all of us by God. Using these gifts to develop an active ministry with your church community can be a powerful experience. Learning about your spiritual gifts is a process of personal discovery and allows you to focus on who you are as a gifted and empowered person of God.

Canon Cathy Black of the Diocese of Arizona will lead a Spiritual Gifts Seminar on Saturday, November 5, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon in the parish hall. Continental breakfast is included. Canon Black will guide you as you complete a Spiritual Gifts Inventory. Through a group activity, she will help you identify how you can best use your gifts within the ministries that our church is currently involved with. She will also explore with us opportunities that our church may dream of doing.

This workshop is not about seeing what you are good at so that you can be pressured to volunteer. It is about working together to discern how to do God’s will in ways that are best suited to who we are as unique and beloved individuals joined in community. If interested, please sign up via the sheet on the bulletin board.

From Youth Minister Joe Wiltz

posted Sep 2, 2016, 12:52 PM by Saint Albans   [ updated Sep 2, 2016, 12:53 PM ]

“My name is Joe Wiltz and I am excited to be the new head of Youth, Children, and Family Ministries for the St. Alban’s family! I grew up near Seattle, Washington, before moving to Arizona in 2011 to study in Phoenix at Grand Canyon University. During my time in Phoenix I volunteered and worked in the Diocese of Arizona leading youth groups and serving at Chapel Rock. After graduating I spent one year in Durham, England, completing my Master of Arts in Religion and Society to academically bolster my experience working with teenagers and young adults. This upcoming November I am marrying the love of my life, Courtney, and through much prayer and extreme temperature acclimation we have decided to become members of St. Alban’s! We are eager to meet everyone, so please do come say hello over the next couple Sundays!”

Altar Guild Members Needed

posted Jun 27, 2016, 12:09 PM by Saint Albans   [ updated Jun 27, 2016, 12:10 PM ]

The Altar Guild is currently in need of some new members. Many of our members have recently retired. We would like both men and women to become a part of this ministry.

Altar Guild is a very important part of each service. The teams work every three weeks. This involves washing and ironing of linens, dusting, filling the candles and preparing the altar the Sunday and Wednesday services.

It is a great way to meet some friendly, helpful people in our church. It also provides an invaluable service to our parish and to the Lord. Please talk to Father Bruce if you are interested. We would love to have you!

ST. ALBAN’S LINK PARISHES PRAYER CYCLE

posted May 11, 2015, 12:57 PM by Saint Albans   [ updated May 16, 2016, 12:06 PM ]

St. Alban’s Cathedral maintains ties with congregations named for St. Alban throughout the world. Each day of the month, the Cathedral remembers in its prayers three to five of these St. Alban’s congregations, as well as the parishes of its own diocese and sometimes other churches to which it has links. Beginning today, our Prayers of the People each Sunday will include the names of the “link parishes” designated for prayer on that calendar day. St. Alban’s parishes around the world are also praying for us!
