Michael was born and raised in Tucson, AZ. After recently graduating college with a B.A. in Global Studies and a minor in Leadership Studies, he is now participating in a year long service corps program in Chicago, IL. Since early August, Michael has enjoyed working as the Volunteer Coordinator for the Ethiopian Community Association of Chicago, one of six refugee resettlement agencies in Chicago.
Though he is a recent graduate, Michael is 27 years old having returned to school after a 2.5 year hiatus to work for a non-profit organization. His work with the non-profit has taken him to 11 different countries around the world. Michael spent 4 months living and working in Haiti in early 2008 and has lead summer intern teams to Kenya (2008), Malawi (2009), and Haiti (2010). Michael has also traveled internationally beyond his work with the non-profit, including a study abroad semester in the Middle East where he experienced the Arab Spring first hand in Egypt.
At school Michael was the President and founder of the International Action Club a group which puts students' international passions and interests into action and plans and organizes advocacy events for the work of NGO's and Non-Profit's around the world including Invisible Children, the Dalit Freedom Network, and the Elias Fund.
