The lecture room is located in the Electrotechnical Building of the Vienna University of Technology,  Gußhausstraße 27-29, 1040 Vienna. It is closest to the subway station "Taubstummengasse" (U1), exit "Taubstummengasse"; but also easily reachable from the subway station "Karlsplatz" (U1/U2/U4), exit "Resselpark". Enter at the main entrance marked by the green arrow in the image. The lecture room is EI11, 3rd floor, Staircase 1 (left of the entrance). The registration and lectures take place in the lecture room.

The computer lab is located on the ground floor of the building at Favoritenstraße 9-11, 1040 Wien, in a building a few 100m from the one in which the lectures take place.

Note that the U1 underground line between Swedenplatz and Reumannplatz will be closed for construction work from July 7th to August 26th, so the Taubstummengasse U1 station can no longer be used from July 7th. The U2 and U4 lines at Karlsplatz will still be running.

The Hotel Academia (student dormitory) is located in the 8th district of Vienna. The address is:

Pfeilgasse 3a, 1080 Vienna

About 800m away from the Ringstraße, it can be reached with the Tram Nr. 46 and 2 and the Bus Nr. 13A.

From the Technical University maybe the best way to get to the dorm is to enter the U2 at Karlsplatz and go to "Volkstheater" or "Rathaus". Then have a 10 min walk or take Tram 2 in direction "Ottakringer Str." from Volkstheater, directly to the dorm (Stop Lederergasse/Josefstätterstrasse).

At Karlsplatz, you can take also Tram 2 in direction "Ottakringer Str." as above.

Getting to and around Vienna

The best way to travel in vienna is by public transport, see this website for details. Most of the important public transport stops are marked on the map linked from the top of this page.

By Air:

Vienna International Airport (VIE) is located in Schwechat, about 20 km south-east of Vienna's center, see the web page. Take one of two railway lines to the station Wien Mitte: line S7 (direction Floridsdorf) costs Euro 3.60, or the City Airport Train (CAT) costs Euro 12 and takes you to the station Wien Mitte 8 minutes faster than the S7.

To get to the summer school venue, at Wien Mitte, take Underground U4, direction Hütteldorf, 2 stops to Karlsplatz, where you have to change to Undergroud U1, direction Reumannplatz, 1 stop to Taubstummengasse.

Alternatively, at the airport you may also take the shuttle bus (Vienna Airport Lines) to Schwedenplatz.
From there take Underground U1, direction Reumannplatz, 3 stops to Taubstummengasse.

To go directly to the Academia Hotel, from Wien Mitte, take the U3 underground line to the Volkstheater station, and then change to tram line 2, direction "Ottakringer Str.", as described in the Accommodation section above.

By Train:
Vienna has two main train stations, Westbahnhof and Meidling.

At Westbahnhof: To get to the summer school venue, enter the Underground station and take Underground U3, direction Erdberg, 5 stops to Stephansplatz, where you have to change to Underground U1, direction Reumannplatz, 2 stops to Taubstummengasse. To go directly to the accommodation, leave the U3 line at the Volkstheater station and change to tram line 2, direction "Ottakringer Str.", as described in the Accommodation section above.

At Meidling station: To get to the summer school venue, take Tram line 62 in the direction "Karlsplatz" and get off at the "Paulanergasse" stop. To go directly to the accommodation, take the underground line U6 to Westbahnhof, and follow the instructions for Westbahnhof above.

By Car:

If you come by car, the easiest and cheapest way is to park your car somewhere near one of the underground or railway stations at the periphery (make sure you remember where), and use public transport further on. If you want to park at the school venue, please note that parking in the streets in central Vienna during daytime is restricted to residents with a special permit or short periods (you will need a ticket called a "Kurzparkschein" for this).
