Dear Neighbor,

We are writing about the ongoing effort to protect the groundwater in and near Scio Township. Scio Residents for Safe Water (SRSW) was founded in 1995. For over 20 years this community volunteer organization has gathered information, kept citizens informed and held the polluters accountable. You have the opportunity to support this ongoing effort by making a financial contribution.

First detected in 1984, the Gelman dioxane contamination plumes have spread from Scio Township into the City of Ann Arbor. We have faced many challenges in holding the corporation responsible (Gelman/Pall/Danaher) to account for the groundwater contamination they caused. Throughout this long struggle, SRSW has served as a key information resource for the public and the media … and especially for the intergovernmental/citizen group: Coalition for Action on Remediation of Dioxane (CARD). SRSW maintains a website with comprehensive archives and the most current information about the 1,4-dioxane pollution and its cleanup: www.srsw.org.

Your support is crucial. Your financial gift will help us to cover our current expenses. Your donation will also help us to do outreach to other neighbors who may not yet be aware of the spreading contamination in our water. Please consider a donation of $10, $30 or $50. You can send your tax-deductible contribution to:

Scio Residents for Safe Water, P.O. Box 97, Dexter, MI 48130.

Thank you for your commitment to this vitally important work.
