Scott has given talks to financial managers in Las Vegas and Hong Kong; historians in Fremantle, Australia, Belfast, Ireland, and Toronto, Canada; teachers in Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, and Maryland; and even to passengers on a riverboat plying the Mississippi from Memphis to New Orleans. A popular teacher at William & Mary, Scott is also an Organization of American Historians "Distinguished Lecturer" for 2008-2011, which means at least one of his speaking engagements in each of those years benefits the OAH.
