“Teaching and Learning:
The Southern Regional Faculty and Instructional Development Consortium warmly invites proposals for posters, pecha kuchas, and interactive workshops that address the theme “Teaching and Learning: Behind the Scenes.” This year’s conference is hosted by Furman University’s Center for Teaching and Learning in Greenville, South Carolina, from the 24th through 27th of March 2012. In keeping with the theme, we ask presenters to explore the things that are normally invisible in teaching, learning, and faculty development: for example, how might we design courses or faculty development seminars that intentionally build on the foundations of sound learning principles—and when should those principles be questioned and revised? What role does creativity play in teaching, learning, and instructional development? How can we encourage faculty to take calculated risks in their teaching, perhaps by encouraging their students to take risks? Where DO good ideas come from, and how can we nurture that environment? These are just a few of the questions that lie “behind the scenes,” behind the content and the carefully designed activities and assignments, whenever teaching and learning are taking place. We welcome your creativity and risk-taking in posing and exploring your own questions for the conference.
The deadline for submissions was January 20th, 2012.
Directions: The conference will be based
at the Westin-Poinsett hotel.
