Welcome to SRBI Online!

Since 2011, The Southeast Regional Biblical Institute (SRBI) has offered a Certificate Program through Beeson Divinity School Extension Division, Samford University, Birmingham, Alabama.  This Extension Institute has been designed for persons who want to improve their biblical and theological knowledge.  The Certificate Program of biblical and theological education has been available to both ministers and laypersons.  

During this time, students have experienced learning success through completion of the certificate program. At the 2nd SRBI Recognition Ceremony, May 31, 2015, 34 students received Basic and Advanced Certificate. At the 3rd SRBI Recognition Ceremony, May 28, 2017, 28 students received a Diploma in Biblical Studies

What’s new to the SRBI Program?

In partnership with the Samford University’s Ministry Training Institute (MTI), SRBI students can enroll in the Diploma programs in the areas of Biblical Studies. This training will continue to consist of the classroom experience. Students can earn the Pastoral Ministry diploma after completion of 4 online classes.

Who can enroll?

ALL interested persons, with or without college degrees are invited to participate.  The courses are taught by seminary trained instructors and experienced pastors. Click here to open the program brochure.

COURSE OF STUDY

Biblical Studies Diploma
The student will earn the Biblical Studies diploma after the completion of 6 classes of concentration in 
Biblical Studies plus an additional 4 classes of electives chosen by the student. There are classes student can take courses from the other core certificate courses and it will be counted as an
elective as well.

Pastoral Ministry Diploma
Students can earn the Pastoral Ministry diploma after completion of 4 on-line classes that students can complete in one year. Existing SRBI students will be grandfathered in at the existing tuition rate of $50. To register for on-line classes at the $50 rate, the student MUST call Dedra Phillips at Samford University at 205.726.4055.
 
2017 FALL  SEMESTER CLASS & ENROLLMENT SCHEDULE 
 
Courses consist of 8 weeks of instruction.  The Institute will offer 2 eight week courses per semester.    
Each class will consist of 3 instructional hours.

The Fall  semester will start on August 14, 2017 at 6 p.m. and classes will be held at The Village Resource Center, 765 North Acadian Thruway., Baton Rouge, LA 70802

 There are two terms within the Fall Semester:

  • TERM A  > AUGUST 14-OCTOBER  2, 2017
  • TERM B > OCTOBER 16-DECEMBER 4, 2017

PLEASE NOTE: On-site registration will be accepted on the first day of class. However, we are encouraging students to enroll via online at least 14 days before classes begin.

 
 TERM A  > August 14-October 2, 2017
 

Course - Introduction to Old Testament:  Students will learn more about the various genres of the Old Testament writings.  Attention will be given to the Christology of the Old Testament and the application of the books in the life of the believer.

Classes will be held on Mondays, 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.

Course - Biblical Foundation I:  Many Christians have not taken time to study the various doctrines of the Bible that are critical to our spiritual growth.  The first section of Biblical Foundations will engage students in doctrines such as the trinity, the second coming, the afterlife, etc.  An Understanding of these Biblical foundations will lead believers to a deeper relationship with God.

Classes will be held on Thursdays, 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.

TERM B > October 16 -December 4, 2017

Course - Introduction to New Testament:  Students will be given an overview of the various sections of the New Testament. Instruction will be given on the authors, context and content of the New Testament books.  Attention will be given to the history of the New Testament and the development of the New Testament Canon. 

Text:  A Popular Survey of the New Testament by Norman Geisler. 

Classes will be held on Mondays, 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.

 Course - Biblical Foundation II:  This course is a continuation of the first section.  Students will learn the doctrines of redemption, the church, the return of Christ and how these doctrines impact their everyday life.

Text: Bible Doctrine: Essential Teachings of the Christian Faith by Wayne Grudem.

Classes will be held on Thursdays, 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.

Fees and Methods of Payment

The tuition fee cost is $50.00 per class 

This amount is payable with a credit or debit card (via online) or with a check or money order (via mail) at least 14 days before the first day class for each term. Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover Credit Cards are acceptable.

Facility Fee

Each student enrolled via online or mail, must also pay a Facility fee ($20).  This fee will be collected on the first day of class.  Checks or money order payable to SRBI or cash will be accepted.

 
 
Registration Methods
 
1) Online
 
 All SRBI students must register online via MTI’s Banner Flex program (link).
Because registration is online, there is no registration fee.
To register for Pastoral Ministry Diploma on-line classes at the $50 rate, the student MUST call Dedra Phillips at Samford University at 205.726.4055.
2) Onsite

Students can come to the first night of class and fill out a registration form and his/her fees.

3) Mail-In

 If for some reason online registration is not possible, students can download the form (link) from the website. After filling it out students will mail it and payment to Samford University, Ministry Training Institute LSW 200 800 Lakeshore Drive, Birmingham, AL. 35229.  Students who do not register online will pay a $10 processing fee per semester. This includes those who are applying for financial aid.

Course Withdrawals

If you have paid registration and need to withdraw from a course, the withdrawal request (link).

Banner flex- Students will have to withdraw 48 hours before the start of class for full refund.

Students who need to withdraw from a course may do so with full refund within the first two weeks of class. They will need to inform the instructor and inform the MTI director’s office.

Financial Aid

 
 Financial Aid is available to eligible students. The Financial Aid form (link) must be completed and submitted with approval from SRBI Director.
