Reducing car miles driven has many benefits - it can signficantly reduce your greenhouse gas emissions, our dependence on foreign oil, and local pollution, at the same time saving you money. And, the alternatives often improve your health, and give you opportunities to meet your neighbors and view your surroundings. What could be better!

What are your options?

Ride your bike to work or to run errands. Check out the City of Redmond's bike map here (note: large file): http://www.redmond.gov/cityservices/maps/bikemap.pdf
If you would like to obtain a hard copy of this free Bicycling Guide and Transit Map, they are available at the City Hall, the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center (ORSCC), and at many local bike shops.

Take local transit. King County has a great trip planner at:

Walk: do you live a mile or so from your local shops? Walk your errands and you'll get exercise at the same time! Or, drive to one store, and walk from there to the others.

For even more options, combine the above together: ride your bike to the bus stop and put your bike on the bus; walk to the local bus stop; go for a local hike by riding your bike there, then hiking. The possibilities are endless!
