What is a Livable Centers Initiative?

The Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) is a program of the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) that awards planning grants on a competitive basis to local governments and nonprofit organizations for the enhancement of existing centers and corridors consistent with regional development policies. Through a Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) grant, the City of Smyrna is developing a Master Plan for the Spring Road Corridor. The Plan will create a shared vision for the City's connection to SunTrust Park/The Battery Atlanta development.

The Smyrna Spring Road Corridor LCI will focus on guiding redevelopment along Spring Road and identifying appropriate investment projects to improve the aesthetics and functionality of this corridor.

In 2003, the City of Smyrna was awarded a grant to fund an LCI Master Plan, covering the city's downtown core (now Market Village). The LCI expands on the 2004 completion of the City of Smyrna Master Plan LCI Study, by better linking Market Village to the new Atlanta Braves Stadium, SunTrust Park.
