21 May 2018 Regency Centers Files Notice of Preliminary Plan and Site Plan and Request for Public Meeting to the County Planning Department

Hello Springfield Residents,

We've learned that Regency Centers has submitted their application to the County Planning Department and may have a Public Meeting in as little as 3 weeks.

We will alert you to the time and location of the Public Meeting and explain how to participate.  We encourage everyone to sign up to share your opinions and echo the SCA priorities that you support – the impact on schools, limiting density, accommodating traffic, creating the Willett Branch SV Park and re-aligning Westbard Ave to minimize cut-through traffic in our neighborhood.  The realignment will be especially important as all of the construction vehicles will have to navigate the sharp turn at River & Ridgefield, as shown in this video and a second that’s nearly as tight at Ridgefield & Westbard.

Find the Regency Centers materials here on our website in the Document Library folder 2018 Regency Centers Application May 2018 or at the links below:

Pay Your 2018 SCA Membership Dues
Join your neighbors as a member of the Springfield Civic Association (SCA). Membership is renewed on an annual basis. You can join or renew your membership securely online today through our online community directory. Email directory@springfield20816.com if you are unable to login to the directory. Alternatively, you can mail your $20 dues (plus your additional contribution to the Community Action Fund) payable to Springfield Civic Association, P.O. Box 644, Glen Echo, MD 20812.  Membership questions?  Email membership@springfield20816.com.

Community Action Fund
The SCA Board established the Community Action Fund to protect Springfield's interests in matters such as the redevelopment of the Westbard Sector.  Over the years, the fund has been used to pay our neighborhood's share of the costs of an urban planning study (the Catholic University study), for a contribution to the Save Westbard lawsuit, and for independent legal advice regarding the Westbard project.  SCA members may contribute to the fund in the same way that they pay their dues.

2018 Springfield Directory Update
We'll be updating and releasing the 2018 edition of the Springfield Civic Association directory later this spring.  SCA members who are current on their dues will receive a printed copy of the directory.  Online access to the directory is available to all Springfield residents all year long. Instructions for accessing the directory can be found here. If you require additional assistance, please email directory@springfield20816.com.
