Update on Equity One's Development Plan
The Planning Board held a public hearing on Equity One's sketch plan (the first step in the company's plan to redevelop its Westbard properties) the afternoon of Thursday, February 23. The SCA submitted a letter to the Planning Board and SCA President Phyllis Edelman testified at the hearing. You can view video of the hearing here (the hearing begins at approximately 4:42:00). The planning staff report on the sketch plan can be found here. The Planning Board approved the sketch plan, but excluded the HOC parcels from the sketch plan pending the results of an archeological study to determine presence of human remains on the site.  The burial site issue must be resolved before Equity One can seek approval of the next phase of its development application.

Westbard Watchdog Committee
SCA has also formed a Westbard Watchdog Committee that will aggressively monitor Westbard's redevelopment.  To join the committee, contact SCA president,
Phyllis Edelman. Additional Westbard resources, including talking points for Springfield-focused testimony, is available on our Westbard page.
