Weather Cancellations

Soccer is played in all types of weather except if lightning is heard or seen.
Rain, snow, wind and sun are all enjoyed by the players.  Players have often remarked how they enjoy playing in the rain which helps to keep them cool.
Should the need arise to cancel games due to the weather, look to this page for the notices.

Uniform Reminders
Shin guards covered by socks will be mandatory for all practices and games.
No jewelery, splints, casts, sunglasses or hats.
If it is cold, additional clothing may be worn beneath the uniform.  The soccer uniform must be the last layer.
Knit hats and gloves are permitted.

New Rules and Regulations: Heading the Ball

I. HEADING THE BALL

1. Consistent with the U.S. Soccer mandates on heading the ball, heading is banned for all division players U-11 (U-12 and below for programs without single age divisions) and below in both practices and games.

Heading for players in U-14 is limited to a maximum of thirty (30) minutes per week with no more than 15-20 headers, per player. There is no restriction on heading in matches.

2. An indirect free kick will be awarded to the opposing team if a player age 10 or younger, deliberately touches the ball with his/her head during a game.

a. The indirect free kick is to be taken from the place where the player touched the ball with his/her head.

b. An indirect free kick awarded to the attacking team inside the opposing team’s goal area, must be taken on the goal area line parallel to the goal line at the point nearest to where the player touched the ball with his/her head.

3. Neither cautions nor send offs shall be issued for persistent infringement or denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity related to the heading infraction.

AYSO’s Safe Haven: Keeping AYSO Players and Volunteers Safe

We take the safety of our athletes seriously. Precautions are taken on the field to prevent physical injuries, and precautions are taken off the field to ensure children and volunteers are safe in their interactions with each other.   AYSO’s Safe Haven program has been put in place to protect AYSO players and the volunteers who serve them. It requires that each AYSO volunteer complete and eSign a volunteer application each and every year, agreeing to background checks and to abide by the philosophies and policies of AYSO.

AYSO has announced important steps to ensure that every AYSO child has the best possible soccer learning experience. Coaches and assistant coaches in every division in every AYSO Region are required to have AYSO’s age-appropriate training and AYSO Safe Haven® certification when they take the field. The policy was approved and adopted by the National Board of Directors at their July 2009 meeting and is supported by the National Coaching Advisory Commission.

The coach-training policy will roll forward each year adding one additional level of required age-specific coach training until, by the 2015 membership year, every AYSO coach and assistant coach at every level will be appropriately trained for the team they will coach.

AYSO’s Safe Haven program is designed to help fulfill the promise of a fun, fair, safe, positive environment for experiencing youth sports. Learn about AYSO’s unique vision and philosophies, child and volunteer protection, the importance of promoting safety and injury prevention as well as role modeling good sportsmanship.
It’s the one course every volunteer must take to be trained and certified.

AYSO's Vision is to provide world class youth soccer programs that enrich children's lives.

AYSO's Mission is to develop and deliver quality youth soccer programs which promote a fun, family environment based on AYSO's Six Philosophies:

  • Everyone PlaysTM
  • Balanced Teams
  • Open Registration
  • Positive Coaching
  • Good Sportsmanship
  • Player Development

Important notice about soccer equipment:

Shin guards are mandatory for all soccer players  Cleats on shoes are optional, but if used must be soccer cleats.  No other types of cleats are permitted in this region.

-------------------------------------------

We are actively looking for interested volunteers for coaching and also referee positions.  Training is provided for all interested.  Remember, AYSO is comprised of ALL volunteers.
Just don't sit on the sidelines, but join in the fun with your children.
