BALTIC, Conn. – Andy Thibault, a private investigator and author of the award-winning collection of newspaper columns, more COOL JUSTICE http://morecooljustice.com/ , will read from his work Thursday, Sept. 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the Sprague Public Library. The library is at 76 Main St., Baltic, CT 06330.

Thibault covered the Showalter hit-and-run case in New London and the towns of Sprague, Lebanon and Franklin as a reporter for The Norwich Bulletin in the 1970s. He counts among his mentors and close friends the late Connecticut Poet Laureate Leo Connellan, who lived in Sprague for many years.

“I’m overjoyed to return to Sprague and walk again where Leo walked,” Thibault said. “I’m a big fan of libraries and I look forward to re-connecting with old friends in the area.”

Thibault most recently appeared at the Greenwich International Film Festival to discuss the Bonnie Foreshaw case. http://cooljustice.blogspot.com/2016/06/icymi-thenatureofthebeast-preview.html

The opening chapter of more COOL JUSTICEBreaking Bonnie Out, features columns that led to a clemency hearing and freedom for Foreshaw, who had been unjustly imprisoned for premeditated murder.

more COOL JUSTICE includes controversial essays on topics including the Woody Allen sex assault case, the national assault on freedom of information and a 42-year-old cold case in New Orleans. A chapter entitled ‘Persons known & unknown blew up justice in Badaracco case’ examines the politics permeating the investigation and points to the judiciary’s complicity in the failure to solve the  Mary Badaracco homicide in northwest Connecticut.

Following publication of more COOL JUSTICE, Thibault collaborated with Louis Colavecchio and Franz Douskey to produce the memoir You Thought It Was More -- Adventures of the World’s Greatest Counterfeiter, Louis The Coin. http://www.theday.com/article/20150120/NWS01/301209952
Thibault was honored by the Connecticut Council on Freedom of Information in 2014 with the Stephen Collins Award  https://connecticutnewsroom.wordpress.com/category/andy-thibault/  for his “many contributions to the cause of open and accountable government and a free and vigorous press.” He has reported extensively on police brutality in Hartford, the Young & Rubicam “Come Back to Jamaica” kickback scandal, the Russian Mob in Brooklyn, NY, the Independent Counsel investigation of the late U.S. Commerce Secretary Ron Brown, the cover-up of a hit-and-run death in New London, Connecticut and the 1996 bombing at Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta.

Thibault was one of the few reporters to cover the Boston Marathon bombing trial gavel to gavel. His reports for the NBC News Investigative Unit can be found at  http://www.nbcnews.com/  by entering Andy Thibault in the search box.
Thibault has taught writing, journalism, literature, blogging and public speaking courses at schools including Western Connecticut State University, the University of Hartford and Northwestern Connecticut Community College.

He is chairman emeritus of the now-defunct Connecticut Young Writers Trust, a foundation that has affirmed the work of more than 8,000 teen-age poets and writers and awarded more than $215,000 in prize money. His public service includes commissioner and hearing officer for the Connecticut Freedom of Information Commission, board member for the Litchfield Board of Education, the Oliver Wolcott Library and the former Connecticut Commission on the Arts and chairman of the Connecticut Boxing Promotion Commission.

His first collection of columns and stories, Law and Justice in Everyday Life, was published in 2002. His other books include You Thought It Was More: Adventures of the World’s Greatest Counterfeiter, Louis the Coin, with Louis Colavechio and Franz Douskey; The History of the Connecticut State Police and The 12-Minute MBA for Lawyers, with Charles Johnson.
His profiles of subjects including poets, prosecutors and defense attorneys, as well as essays on the arts, have appeared in magazines including Connecticut Magazine and Northeast Magazine. His work also has appeared on Page Six of the New York Post. He has been an editor for newspapers including The Hartford Courant, Stamford Advocate & Greenwich Time, The Wilkes-Barre, PA Times Leader and The New Haven Register.
Thibault has worked as a private investigator for law firms in Connecticut, New York, California and Washington, D.C., and as a professional boxing judge. Currently, he is an investigator for Integrated Security Services  http://www.intesecurity.com/, a Manhattan-based firm with offices in Hartford and Norwalk, CT, as well as in Long Island, Boston and San Francisco.

He blogs at The Cool Justice Report: http://www.cooljustice.blogspot.com/. Readers can follow him on Twitter @cooljustice. His Facebook author page: https://www.facebook.com/Andy-Thibault-171518696367751/.
