The Coop, as the name suggests is a cooperative. This book store is owned by the students, faculty, alumni, and staff at Harvard and MIT. The store offers a wide selection of fiction and non-fiction books as well as textbooks. The main MIT branch is near the Kendall MIT T-stop, but there is a smaller shop at the Student Center.

The Harvard Coop at Harvard Square has a large collection of books, an in-store cafe, and a large section of children’s books where you can sit and read with kids. Frequent events at this store include book discussions, author signings, and children's story time.
