Street Football Aotearoa and SportZone have been working together for the past 6 years to bring life changing opportunities through football to marginalised and inadequately housed individuals in Wellington and other regions around the country. The Homeless World Cup is an annual World Football event that gives hundreds of Street Football players from the 160 Nations a massive opportunity to change their lives.
The first ever Street National Championships for New Zealand were held on Queens Wharf, Wellington on a purpose built pitch supplied by SportZone. The event added to the occasion of the historic All Whites win over Bahrain in front of a sell out crowd in Westpac Stadium.
The Street Football ideal has now been taken over by the Footy for All Charitable Trust and has broadened it's focus to provide Football and Touch opportunities to excluded and marginalised individuals.
SportZone are committed to supporting the FACT organisation and has promised to use the SportZ-Arena Portable Pitch and Street Football tournaments as fundraising opportunities for the Homeless World Cup and National Street Football events, as well as supporting the Able2 football programs.
