Rowsell rout at Shrewsbury
Ben Rowsell scored an impressive hatrick of tries in Hereford Rugby Academy’s emphatic 32-12 victory over Shrewsbury College.
Rowsell was amongst a few star performers- Will Beach chipping in with a very impressive display, scoring a brace of tries and 1 conversion.
Hereford dominated the first half with some slick handling and silky running. Shrewsbury’s only lifeline was a few missed tackles and some careless errors.
With a solid line out and scrum Hereford were able to launch wave of attack after attack, producing some inspired phases of play. This also included some timely turnovers and excellent cover defence with Will Sandercock and Matt Stokes prominent in these areas.
Late on Shrewsbury manage to score twice but Jack Ettingher sealed the win with a mazy run to the line. Finch was forced onto the wing with the arrival of Rhys ‘Rhino’ Roberts into the centre as Adam Davies was forced to leave the field through fatigue.
The Rugby boys now look forward to the next round of the cup with confidence and also know that they will need to improve certain areas of the game to progress
