Lights dim in gym. Cubmaster stands with one lit candle.
CM: Would Den __ please come forward and form a circle around me.
1st year Webelos come forward, ACM hands each with an unlit candle, Webelos form a circle around the CM. ACM assists boys in forming circle – making sure it s well spaced. CM lights each Webelos candle.
CM: This circle represents the circle of Brotherhood – the Brotherhood of the Webelo and these candles represent the light of Scouting. Would Den __ please come forward and form a circle inside of our Circle of Brotherhood.
Graduating Bears come forward and form circle inside Webelos. CM gives Bears an unlit candle.
CM: Bears, you have worked hard along the Cub Scouting trail and have earned the right to join our brotherhood of the Webelo. (2nd year’s light candle of our new 1st year Webelos).
CM: The Webelos program’s goal is to prepare boys for Boy Scouting. In the Webelos program, you will learn the Scout oath and law and the outdoor code. You will have the opportunity to visit with different Scout troops and to go camping with them. At the end of your 2nd year, you will chose a Boy Scout Troop and join them, continuing on with your Boy Scout adventure. Bears, welcome to the brotherhood of the Webelos.
CM instructs all Webelos to blow out candles and he retrieves the candles.
CM: As a webelo scout, you wear a neckerchief that identifies you as a Webelo. I now ask that our Webelos welcome you into our brotherhood by presenting you with the Webelos scarf. (At that point, the 2nd year Webelos place the Webelos scarf and slide around the neck of each new webelo.)
Once all scarves are on, boys turn to face the Pack. 1st years in front, 2nd years in back.
CM: Pack 420, it is my honor to present to you the Webelos of Pack 420.
