In June 2009 I hope to achieve my longtime goal to stand on the final summit of the highest natural point in each of the 50 States.  During this very physical and challenging climb, I want to raise funds to find a cure for Alzheimer's.
I'm Dan Coslic and a member of a climbing team in Spokane, WA planning to climb the highest point in North America, Denali.

Denali, located in Mt. McKinley National Park, Alaska is the highest point in North America at 20,320'.  It is one of the coldest and harshest mountains in the world.  Being only 200 miles south of the Arctic Circle and with almost 24 hours of daylight in the summertime, temperature extremes can go from the +70's to -30 even in June.  Each year hundreds of people attempt this mountain but just over half ever make the summit.

(Denali summit from 11,000' camp during my 1990 attempt)
While the physical mountains are sometimes difficult to overcome, Alzheimer's is by far the most daunting and most intimidating "climb".  This is one that cannot be conquered going solo or unguided.  I've had grandparents from both sides of my family inflicted with a form of this disease along with several friends that have been on this very long journey.
I am asking you to join this effort to raise money towards a cure.  Our team in Spokane, WA is scheduled to climb Denali in June 2009.  The climb will take anywhere from 18 to 24 days, depending on weather.  This will be my second attempt on Denali and hopefully completing my 50 State Summits.
My challenge for you is to help by contribute towards finding a cure.   All money raised here for Alzheimer's goes directly to Alzheimer's.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to my event to raise funds for Alzheimer's.
This event is now closed but you may go, anytime, to the general Alzheimer's Association donation website.
