The Purpose of the Auburn University Spirit of Sustainability Awards
The Auburn University Spirit of Sustainability Awards program exists to recognize individuals or groups of Auburn University students, faculty, staff, and alumni that exemplify the Auburn spirit by making significant contributions toward sustainability on campus or in a community at any point along the Sustainability Compass:  Nature, Economy, Society, Wellbeing.

Nature: efforts that exemplify how we can restore, protect, and live in accord with the laws of Nature. 
Economy: efforts that contribute to a prosperous Economy that is viable, fair, and inclusive.
Society: efforts that cultivate Societal connectedness, caring, equity, and engagement.
Wellbeing: efforts that nurture individual health, fulfillment, happiness, and Wellbeing.
Criteria for the selection of award recipients
Award winners are chosen based on three criteria.   
    1. Motivation and commitment to sustainability
    2. Impact of the sustainability initiative
    3. Degree to which the initiative engaged and involved others

Nominations for the Spirit of Sustainability Awards are open for the month of January.
The 2014 awards ceremony will be held on April 22nd at 3:00 pm.

To submit a nomination
Please provide the following information:
    The name of the individual, group, or project,
    The name and email address for the primary contact person to be contacted for additional information or notifications,
    Secondary contact name and email, if applicable,
    Nominees affiliation with Auburn University,
    A description of the initiative including reasons for submitting the nomination, and
    Explanations of how the nominee meets the three selection criteria listed above.

The Spirit of Sustainability Awards began in 2013. Awards have been given to Auburn University alumni, faculty, staff, administrators, and students.To see past winners are and read their stories please visit:
 The William Olson Student Achievement Award
The William Olson Student Achievement Award has been created to recognize Auburn students who exemplify the same passion and commitment to sustainability as the award's namesake, Auburn alumnus William K. Olson (1986 – 2012).   This special honor will only be awarded when there is an Auburn student who embodies the same level of commitment to a sustainable future as Will. Any student nominated for a Spirit of Sustainability Award will be considered for this award. To learn more follow the link to the
