Ali, Diane, Brian, and Cookie all tore up the roads in Ohio in long road races!

We also had a nice group of athletes out for Barry-Roubaix!  All worked hard on those hilly roads!  Below are a few pictures from the race day!

3/25/15 - Product Review - Smith Optics Pivlock

posted Mar 24, 2015, 3:48 PM by Bethany Cockburn   [ updated Mar 24, 2015, 3:54 PM ]

I am reviewing Smith Optics Pivlock V90 - Max sunglasses.  I bought my sunglasses several years ago and have been using them on all bike rides, runs, and out on the town since then.  I love these sunglasses because they include interchangeable lenses that allow me to easily deal anything from very sunny days to dusky mountain bike rides.  The clear lenses are great for a tree-covered mountain bike ride or an overcast day that is threatening rain.  The red Ignitor lens is probably my favorite - as one of my friends says, they are "rose colored glasses."  While I bought the Max lenses (they are bigger and cover more face), you can buy the smaller size also. I usually wear the smaller size on short rides or when I am wearing them while walking around town.  The brilliance of these sunglasses is that all lenses work with the same nose piece and ear pieces.   Related, notice I didn't say that they work with the same "frame."  A big reason I also like these sunglasses is because they are frameless, which makes riding in an aero position on the TT bike more comfortable because I don't have to strain my neck to look up over the frame.  I can ride a 100 miles without getting a sore neck, which would happen with other sunglasses.  I would recommend these sunglasses for any athlete who doesn't need prescription sunglasses.  The downside is that they can scratch if you drop them on the floor and it breaks your heart.  But, new lenses aren't that expensive and the company replaces manufacturing defects.  Overall, they are awesome!!  I'd rate them 10 out of 10!

Check them out at Spin Zone Cycling Outfitters!!!  They are in stock and can be ordered if there is a special color you love!

3/24/15 - Sponsor Announcement - Mavic

posted Mar 24, 2015, 1:31 AM by Bethany Cockburn

Mavic returns again as a sponsor for Spin Zone Racing!

Mavic has sponsored SZR for years - and we love their products!  Many of us ride Mavic wheels (love the carbon!), wear Mavic road and mountain bike shoes (light-weight, comfortable, excellent power transfer, look great), protect our noggins with their helmets, and wear their clothes (yellow shoe-covers and socks anyone?)!  In fact, their signature yellow has been on our jerseys for years as tribute to the fantastic products they sell.

Be on the lookout at our website over the next few months as SZR racers talk about their favorite Mavic products!  For example: The lightest cycling shoe in the industry?  Sounds great!  http://www.mavic.us/footwear-road-huez-shoe

From the description, "It’s a simple, playful and immersive iPad app that strolls you through the most gorgeous cycling routes across the western world with your boring stats overlay to make it real. Imagine you wanting to cycle through Alps, do it! There is no better feeling, but before you go for that life changing trip, mock ride it on Rideo and once you get there you won’t be a stranger to the valleys.

Want to ride with pros, no problem! Hop on, start peddling and you will be riding along bunch of pro riders (pace setters) keeping you motivated.

So, how do you get started? You need a bike, BLE speed and cadence sensor (£25-50) and any cycle training stand and you are good to go place or mount your iPad to the road bike handle bar with sensor attached to your bike, select where you want to ride."
