Background:

Spencer Pierce, Ph.D., is currently an Assistant Professor in Accounting at Florida State University. He earned his doctorate in Accounting Information and Management from Northwestern University in 2014. Prior to his doctoral studies, he received both a Bachelor of Science in Accounting (Cum Laude) and a Masters of Accountancy (With Distinction) from Brigham Young University. Professor Pierce’s primary research interests include financial reporting and disclosure, capital markets, accounting for derivatives, and firm risk. His research has been published by outlets such as The Accounting Review, Review of Accounting Studies, and Journal of Financial Reporting. Spencer is a licensed CPA in the state of Colorado.
