Summer Citrus Sangria

1 ruby red grapefruit (though mine sure wasn't very red!)

1 lime

1 orange

1 lemon

1 1/4 cup sugar (or to taste)

1 cup orange vodka*

1 bottle chardonnay

1 can lemon-lime soda

Clean and slice the fruit reserving half of the grapefruit.  Juice the reserved grapefruit half and add juice to a 2-quart pitcher.  Add fruit slices, sugar and vodka to pitcher and stir until sugar is dissolved.  Let fruit mixture rest for at least 4 hours (or overnight).

When ready to serve, add chardonnay and lemon-lime soda.  Serve over ice.
