Playground Committee

Fundraising started in early 2016 for an all-inclusive playground at Southview Elementary School. This structure will be accessible to all students, including those in wheelchairs and students that walk with the assistance of leg braces and/or crutches.

What makes it unique?
This structure will be the only one of its kind in the Chippewa Falls area and it will be encouraged to be used by the community during non-school hours.

What makes this playground different than others?
This structure will appeal to the needs of our most vulnerable students by including access ramps, wheelchair accessible gliders and specially designed equipment that stimulates sensory awareness.

How much does it cost?
The cost of the project is $200,000. Through multiple fundraisers, grants awarded, donations, etc., Southview has raised $150,000 as of September 2017.

But, why do all students need to have access to a playground structure?
An all-inclusive playground will motivate children to explore their unique physical abilities and flourish in a safe environment. The development of this outdoor structure will continue to support our mission by ensuring that all children are provided with an equal opportunity education.
