South Sound Heritage Association

A consortium of museums and historical groups
working together to collect, preserve, and interpret the history of
Washington State's Southern Puget Sound Country

Welcome to the South Sound Country!

Throughout Lewis, Mason and Thurston Counties you’ll discover many opportunities to learn about the people and places that represent this area’s past.  Largely rural and sparsely populated, many historic places survive relatively unchanged from the earliest days of settlement.  Museums, historic houses and cabins, archaeological sites, and interpretive markers present the curious traveler a varied menu of sights that embody the rich history of Washington’s past.
