A new fixture for this year for the SOA. The beautiful surroundings on Old Minster greeted a very strong SOA side with 5 debutants. We won the toss and had no hesitation in batting first. Tom Costley and Lawrence Brock opened the batting with Costley not lasting long, being bowled by the ball of the day. The bowler would later admit it was the best ball he has ever bowled! This brought Charlie Fisher to the crease and with Brock put on 117 in 132 balls. This put in a strong position to post a competitive total in our 40 overs. Both brought their fifties up and duly tee’d off. Brock going for 53 and Fisher for 63. Useful contribution from Prav Chahal, Dave Eaton and Will Watts took us to 226. SOA took to the field with 4 1st team seamers from Cherwell League and Home Counties sides! So of course the President decided to open the bowling! Minster started well reaching 50-0 off 15 overs. It was time for a change. The next 3 overs produced 5 wickets! Chris Crouch (3), finished with 4-0-18-4, and Dave Eaton (2), finished with figures of 2-1-1-2. Seb Skinner came into the attack and bowled well for 6-3-23-2 and wickets from Brad Bryant and Chahal helped bowl Minster out for 118 giving SOA a victory by 108 runs.
