Dame Judi Dench is the Patron of this wonderful Community Choir

We are a small, friendly choral society based in the village of South Nutfield, close to Redhill in Surrey. We typically have around 35 regular members from the village and the surrounding area and sing a wide variety of sacred and secular music ranging from works such as Fauré’s Requiem and Handel’s Messiah to part-songs, madrigals, stage music, great works such as Britten's Ceremony of Carols, Chilcott's A Little Jazz Mass and Tippett's Five Spirituals from A Child of our Time. See Music Performed for further information.
We rehearse in a lovely Community Centre attached to Christ Church, on Monday evenings from 8.00pm to 10.00 pm, with a short half-time coffee break. Normally, the choir performs two concerts each year, one in late November or in early December, the other in May.

Our concerts are held usually in Christ Church (which has an excellent organ and good acoustics) or in South Nutfield Village Hall, to suit the theme and content of our programme.  Additionally, we are sometimes invited to participate in other local musical activities such as carol services and weddings.  We are fortunate to have a most experienced and inspiring conductor, Sue Hughes, who has a lifetime’s experience of choral conducting and music teaching. She has enormous energy and enthusiasm for South Nutfield Choral Society and sets very high standards for us to aim for.

South Nutfield Choral Society is a very sociable group where members not only enjoy each other’s company during the rehearsal breaks (and some people in the local pub afterwards) but from time to time we also hold musical evenings for members, their families and friends and these are always great fun. In addition the choir hosts fundraising events including "Come and Sing" opportunities, where we invite singers from outside our choir, to join us in rehearsing and singing a well loved work. Mozart's Requiem was our last chosen work and was extremely successful and well attended.

We are always delighted to welcome new members who are willing to make a regular commitment to the choir. No auditions are required but it is beneficial to have had some experience of singing. Our members range from experienced singers to those with more limited choral and musical experience. If you are interested in joining the choir or attending our concerts, please do get in touch. You are assured of a most warm welcome.
