This website covers the history, operation and proposed extension of the Southbridge Branch Line, a relatively small railway which was located on the Canterbury Plains of the South Island of New Zealand. The Southbridge Branch operated from 1875 until 1967.
Also included on this website are brief overviews of the Hornby Industrial Line (the last remnant of the Southbridge Branch Line), and the Little River Branch Line which started at Lincoln off the Southbridge Branch Line.
