The duties of the South Area Advisory Council shall be advisory in nature, none of which will conflict with any of the powers and duties reserved by School Board policy.  The South Area Advisory Council meets monthly to discuss all pertinent issues dealing with School Advisory Forums and District Advisory Council. Our main goal is having and disseminating information to all stakeholders in our area. If you are new to the South Area or Broward County Schools, please refer to your individual school for the time of your School Advisory Forum Meeting.

Broward County Public Schools will host the third annual Ed Talk on Saturday, November 1, 2014, at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center.  This public forum will engage members of the community in discussions focused on shaping the priorities of the District, as well as creating and maintaining a high-quality school system.

Attendees will include students, parents, teachers, principals and representatives from business, higher education, community and faith-based organizations.

When: Saturday, November 1, 2014  9 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.


Registration:  Registration is open through Monday, October 27, 2014. Space is limited. Register Now! 

Childcare services will be available during Ed Talk 2014.  To qualify, children must have a parent/guardian attending the event and be between the ages of 2 -10 (must be potty trained). Children over 10 are invited to attend as participants.

The calendar, which has 180 instructional days, includes a two-week winter break beginning December 22, 2014 through January 2, 2015, and a one-week spring break March 23 – 27, 2015. Teacher planning days (no students in school) are scheduled for October 24, 2014; November 4, 2014; December 19, 2014; March 20, 2015; and June 5, 2015. The 2014/15 calendar also includes contingencies for up to four hurricane make-up days, if needed.
