The Unforgivable Sin

The One Unforgivable Sin
All sins are forgiven except the one against the Holy Spirit.

There is one, and only one sin that can never be forgiven by God. That sin is referred by the bible as the unforgivable or unpardonable sin. Jesus tells us about this particular sin himself.

All sins have been forgiven expect this one. The importance of understanding this one sin, as it relates to God,  is the implications it has for a person's eternal life. Jesus, while teaching on this earth told that all sins would be forgiven except the sin against the Holy Spirit.

Don't worry. If you are worried about having committed the unforgivable sin, rest assured you haven't. All sins are placed behind the back of God, never to see them or hold them against you. However, there is a sin against the Holy Spirit of God that is not outright forgiven by God.  Suggest reading some of the source notes on the side about the unpardonable sin.

"But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin." Mark 3:29

"And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come." Mathew 12: 31-32

Why is that you might ask, if all our sins are behind the back of God, never to see them again? Why would God hold one sin against man if he says your sins are forgiven? Why would God, hold the sin against the Holy Spirit of God as unforgiven?

Think about it, the bible says that the Jesus is drawing all men to God himself through the Holy Spirit. People can choose to be in total rebellion to the Holy Spirit calling a person to believe in Jesus their whole lives; to coming by faith to Jesus Christ and the finished work on the cross, but if at the very end of their life, they listen to the Holy Spirit and they receive Jesus, then they have not committed the unforgivable sin. However, if a person refuses to listen to the Holy Spirit till the very end of their life here on this earth, that person remains dead in their sin of unbelief. The person that has refused to accept Jesus, refused to receive his life, refused to receive forgiveness in him, and because they have refused to repent of their unbelief and believe in Jesus, the only One for eternal life, they remain spiritually dead in God's wrath for all eternity (the age to come).

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him. John 3:16

Put the issue to rest forever. Receive Jesus by faith and you have eternal life.
