Sourangsu received his Bachelors degree in Chemistry from Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Centenary College, Rahara in 2010. He received his M.Sc degree in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Calcutta in 2012. Subsequently, he joined PhD with Sagnik Dey at Centre for Atmospheric Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in 2013 and received the degree in 2019. His primary research interest is to quantify impact of particulate matter on human health in India using multi-pronged modelling techniques. During his PhD tenure, he was a Nehru-Fulbright fellow at School of Public Health, University of California Berkeley with Kirk R. Smith. After PhD, he worked with Jos Lelieveld at Department of Atmospheric Chemistry, Max Planck Institute for Chemistry, Mainz as a postdoctoral researcher until Nov 2021. Currently, he is employed as a Senior Researcher in the Climate Impacts Group, CICERO- Center for International Climate Research in Oslo, Norway. He also remains affiliated with Max Planck Institute for Chemistry as a Guest Researcher.
