SOULGARDEN COMMUNITY GARDEN OFFICIAL PAGE
SOUL GARDEN: Gardens for Community Members to-Grow-Learn and Share. Each Garden is cared for by dedicated persons, that are involved to make the World a better place. These Gardner's are growing for their their loved one's and Food Charities in our Community. Each Garden donates 20% of produce, that members of the Cottonwood Presbyterian Church pickup on Sundays and then give donations for Food Banks. We also take boxes of Produce directly to Organizations that are helping Families. Last season we donated over $2000 to food banks and over 1000 pounds of produce to Crossroads.
We have over 50 large Gardens that help many families create fun and healthy food and learning experiences. Plus the Woodstock School Garden has two plots that Students share and learn how to grow a Garden. We have many people growing food their family and food charities. This is one of the most productive Gardens in Utah and enjoyed by many dedicated and hard working persons to make it how great it is.
Sustainable” means to perpetuate existence as well as to provide sustenance and nourishment. The term is most often associated with the environment and specifically to landscapes and gardens. While growing plants and maintaining a garden are inherently “green” activities, sustainable gardening is about growing a greener future.
So what does it mean to garden sustainably? Sustainable gardening combines organic gardening practices with resource conservation. Generally, sustainable gardening:
is forward-thinking
values ecosystem support over aesthetics
makes as little negative impact on the earth as possible
works with nature instead of against it
