Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance, Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition and Sonoma Valley CyclistsA Cycling Safety tips booth featuring SCBC Street Skills instructor, Martin Clinton are pleased to present the Sonoma/Springs Bicycle Festival, title sponsored by TBD. The event is a celebration of cycling in Sonoma Valley and a showcase of how to enjoy two wheels safely in our community. The festival is on Saturday, October 10th at Depot Park in Sonoma. The day starts at 9am with the 25-mile "Mentoring for Miles" fun ride into Carneros. Thirty-minutes later, at 9:30am, we kick off a more casual bicycle tour of our community's bike routes. The festival runs from 11am to 3 pm which will include:

  • A kids' helmet giveaway (helmets provided by Sonoma County Safe Kids)
  • A bike light giveaway
  • Games and contests for kids and adults
  • Live music by the The Whiskey Thieves and Uncle Jessie and the Porch Junkies
  • Local food vendors
  • Booths by local bike and bike-friendly groups
  • Free valet bike parking (provided by SCBC, of course)

We've produced a promotional video based on last year's event:

We are looking for volunteers to take on many tasks:

  • Help with kids' games/contests
  • Spanish language support (both for pre-event outreach, and for day-of translation needs)
  • Green and Clean ground maintenance
  • Valet bike parking
  • Set-up & Tear-down
  • and more!

If you're interested in helping, please contact SCBC Events Coordinator Sandra Lupien at SandraL@BikeSonoma.orgor 707-545-0153; SVMA Director of Development Laura Zimmerman at laura@sonomamentoring.org or 707-938-1990; or SVC Founder Chip Roberson at chip@SonomaValleyCyclists.org or 707-771-0345.

And, if you know of -- or own -- a local business that would like to learn about sponsoring the Bicycle Festival, please get in touch with us.

As always, it will be the combined efforts of many incredible volunteers that make this event a hit! We are looking forward to hearing from you.

Last year we had fliers in English and Spanish attached at the bottom of this page. Look for them at your favorite bike-friendly establishment.
