Solarize Southwest Portland

The initiative concluded in 2011 all information on this page has not been updated since then.
Solarize Southwest was a volunteer-driven community effort led by the Southwest Neighborhoods Inc., (SWNI) to bring renewable solar energy and the benefits of weatherization to Southwest Portland homes.  Nearly 700 Southwest Portland residents enrolled in Solarize Southwest.

It’s not too late to get solar installed on your home. The cost of solar electricity (photovoltaic’s) has never been better, and Oregon has some of the best tax credits and cash incentives nation-wide.  Please see our Resources page to learn more.  Also feel free to contact Mr. Sun Solar (503) 222-2468, the contractor for Solarize Southwest, or visit the Energy Trust website to find qualified solar contractors at http://energytrust.org/library/find-a-contractor/.

For general information about solar energy, please visit the Solar Now website or visit Solar Oregon, a non-profit organization that has partnered with Solarize Southwest. Solar Oregon provides education and resources to Oregonians looking to go solar.

  • RETC Changes - Updates On July first, the Oregon Department of Energy implemented some changes to the RETC which would have dramatically changed the costs for people with signed contracts. As of July 30th, ODOE is adopting a new rule giving everyone more time to use the current Oregon solar tax credit. Contracts need to be signed by August 13. Installations need to be complete by December 31. Permitting can even ...
