About Kanata Massage and Acupuncture Clinic

Kanata Massage and Acupuncture Clinic, established in 2011, is a home-based massage and acupuncture therapy clinic that is dedicated to improving your well-being, located in the Sohowest community (Now is Trailwest), south Kanata, Ottawa.

The clinic provides advanced therapeutic and relaxation massage in a safe, comfortable, and relaxing environment. Services include a variety of massage techniques such as Tuina, Acupressure, Trigger Point Release, Myofacial Release, Manual Lymph Drainage, etc., that are designed to relieve the pain and stress related to day to day living, while aiding in the rehabilitation of physical injuries.

The clinic also provides acupuncture treatment that is another way to treat variety of human internal and external diseases. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine approach, acupuncture is a collection of procedures which involves the stimulation of points on the body using a variety of techniques, such as penetrating the skin with needles that are then manipulated manually or by electrical stimulation. Furthermore, the stimulation of specific acupuncture points can correct body's imbalances in the flow of Qi through channels of human known as meridians.

It is proved the combination of acupuncture and massage can get better result especially in pain management, such as neck and shoulder pain, frozen shoulder, lower back pain, sciatica, knees pain, etc.

About a Registered Massage Therapist

A Registered Massage Therapist (R.M.T) is an individual who has:

- Completed competency-based education at educational institutions recognized by the Government of Ontario;

Studied anatomy, physiology, pathology, physical assessment, neurology, treatments, ethics and other subjects;

- Completed a minimum of 150 clinical hours;

- Successfully completed examinations from and have been "registered" by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) in accordance with the Regulated Health Professions Act and the Massage Therapy Act;

- Maintained their registration by participating in continuing education and a Quality Assurance Program that assists them in the maintenance of high professional standards and quality care of their clients.

About a Registered Acupuncturist

A Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac) is an individual who has:

- Completed Traditional Chinese Acupuncture program that consists of at least three years of full-time education or education that is of equivalent duration;

- Completed a minimum of 500 clinical hours;

- Successfully passed qualifying examinations held by the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO).

- Authorized to practice Traditional Chinese Medicine using acupuncture including Tuina, Cupping, and Moxibustion, etc within the scope of the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO).

- Maintained their registration by participating in continuing education and a Quality Assurance Program that assists them in the maintenance of high professional standards and quality care of their clients.
