Sodbury Ringers is a small friendly group that meet on Tuesday evening from 7:30 - 9:00 to ring handbells. Most of the group became involved through their children, the children have grown up and moved on to guitars and house music but the parents have stayed. We like to play well but are not perfectionists, enjoyment is our aim. Although we practice at St Johns Church Centre we are entirely independent of the church.

We play from numbered music which means no musical background or skill is required. You just have to be able to count to four!! The music we play ranges from hymns to “songs from the shows” and several classical pieces. Christmas Carols sound particularly nice on the handbells and we enjoy playing to the elderly at Christmas.

Our speciality is ringing Call Changes (mimicking church tower bells) and we are often asked to ring at weddings to greet the guests and bride as they arrive.

Although the group is run informally we do have a leader, secretary, treasurer and technical director. Records are kept and accounts maintained. Each year we donate the funds we raise to a local charity.

If you are interested in joining or want to know more please contact us through our email : sodburyringers@googlemail.com or come along any Tuesday evening 7:30 – 9:00 upstairs in the St John’s Church Centre Wickwar Rd Chipping Sodbury.
