Welcome to Society of the Lark (SOL), a workshop for women writers.
It is the mission of the Society of the Lark to foster a supportive, professional environment for serious women writers interested in publishing creative work. To this end, SOL operates as a workshop community, wherein members participate in established writing cycles with one another and come together at various times throughout the year for professional development in the creative writing field.
Members of Society of the Lark have published work or have work forthcoming in Written River: A Journal of Ecopoetics, Et Cetera, Lalitamba: A Journal of International Writings for Liberation, Ship of Fools, Polaris, Fly in the Head, The Chattahoochee Review, Charm on the Space Coast Magazine, Gravel Magazine, Devil's Lake, The Citron Review, HeartWood, Easy Street, Polaris, Rappahannock Review, r.k.v.r.y. Quarterly Journal, Flash Fiction Magazine and multiple anthologies, among others. Members have also been recognized with such awards as First Place in Poetry at the High Point Phoenix Festival, multiple Emerging Voices Awards, multiple Maier Awards, multiple AWP nominations and a Pushcart nomination.
Society of the Lark was born in Huntington, West Virginia, but thanks to technology (which we love almost as much as we hate), our members are scattered throughout West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky and North Carolina. Please explore our web site for more information about who we are and what we do, or feel free to shoot us an email.
