This website accompanies the undergraduate course Introduction to Sacred Scripture (Theology 249; 3 credits). We meet in Fall 2011 on Mondays from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Birmingham satellite location.

The purpose of this course is to introduce you to the most influential writings in world literature which are, in addition, affirmed by Jews and Christians to be reliable sources of divine revelation and wisdom. This course will bolster your life-long adventure of learning God's will for your life by reading the Word that is able to transform your life.

The amount of material that we will cover in this course may, at first, seem daunting to some or many of you; but I will work with you to ensure that we cover the highlights and at the same time enjoy the learning experience. The purpose of this introductory course is to lay a foundation for your future life-long study of the Bible. We certainly cannot cover everything about the entire Bible in one semester. So, be not afraid!
