I, Dr. Sobin C C, currently working as Associate Professor in Dept. of CSE, SRM University Andhra Pradesh. I have been teaching various courses in Computer Science and Information Technology streams for the last 15 years.

I have completed my graduation (B. Tech) from College of Engineering Thalassery under Cochin University in the year 2004 and M. Tech in CSE at IIT Madras (2008-2010). I have completed my dissertation under the guidance of Prof. C. Pandu Rangan, Professor, Dept. Of CSE, IIT Madras. I have joined for doctoral studies in the year 2014 and completed in 2017 under the guidance of Prof. Vaskar Raychoudhury, Assistant Professor, Dept. Of CSE, IIT Roorkee. My thesis topic was Efficient Routing Protocols for Resource-Constrained Delay Tolerant Networks. I have studied about the problems related to message forwarding of nodes in a resource-constrained Delay Tolerant Network (DTN) environment and provided effective solutions to address those problems. The energy issues associated with DTN message forwarding was addressed and an energy-efficient routing protocol was also developed during the doctoral studies.

In August 2019, I joined as an Assistant Professor in Dep. Of CSE, SRM University Andhra Pradesh and promoted as Associate Professor in January 2021 and continuing till date.

Current Research

My research interests are Delay Tolerant Networks, Wireless Networks, and Internet of Things. Currently I am working on developing smart agricultural solutions for farmers in India. My research focuses on possible technology adoption among marginal farmers with a two-layer approach. The first one is to aggregate information from multiple information systems deployed for the farmer. This information could help farmers to take informed decisions on their farm activities. Second, for facilitating internal farm management by assessing/measuring multiple parameters, such as temperature, humidity, pH value, Nitrogen content and the effect of pesticides, etc. The proposed system uses IoT (Internet of Things) and Machine Learning techniques for optimal usages of fertilizers and other resources.

It is envisaged to use my research expertise in Internet of Things and Wireless Communication for developing smart agricultural solutions. The real time data recorded will also be used for gaining better insights later using Machine Learning methods and It helps the farmers to plan the cultivation with objective of better return from their farm products. The proposed model is to ensure a sustainable income from the farming activities by linking timely information of Market(e-NAM) and optimal usage of resources(water/fertilizer).
