Grading Policy

90-100% - A
80-89% - B
70-79% - C
60-69% - D

You must have at least a 60% to pass my class and satisfy your English requirements for graduation. Failure to do so will result in repeating the class and possibly delaying your graduation.

Students will be graded on the following:

Class Participation/Journal - 10% of final grade
Daily Assignments - 40% of final grade
Tests - 35% of final grade
Vocabulary/Spelling - 15% of final grade

Your final for the semester will be 20% of your overall grade.

Class expectations
A smooth running, efficient classroom is necessary to accomplish our learning goals. In order to establish this learning atmosphere, I expect everyone to adhere to the following guidelines:
    - Be in your seat, attentive, and ready to work on time and allow others to do the same.
    - Bring or borrow from the classroom all required books and materials.
    - Keep your workspace clean and neat.
    - Keep your hands, feet and objects to yourself.
    - Keep disruptive, loud, vulgar or offensive language out of the classroom and school.

If students come to class eager to learn, with their work completed, they will be fine. If they try to fly under the radar and do only what they have to do in order to pass, the highest grade they will receive is a "C". The student is in total control of their final grade and what they will get out of the class.

Late Work
Late work is never accepted and a zero will be put into the grade book for the assignment. All assignments are due when students arrive in class; it is not to be completed during the class period it is due. If a student misses a day of school, they have two days to complete missed assignments for their first EXCUSED absence and one day more for each additional EXCUSED absence after that. Anything later than that receives a zero. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
It is the student's responsibility to check the class bulletin board or the web site for assignments.
