Although “getting there is half the fun”, we’ve come to expect enjoyment from all aspects of our trips. Whether by bus, planes or trains, it’s the people you travel with that you remember the most.

The Asian Ski & Board Club of L.A. plans four to five winter weekend trips to Mammoth Mountain each year, travelling either by bus or carpools, and staying two nights in condominiums. Sometimes, a weekend trip is not enough. There’s a yearning for an extended trip of up to a week at a major resort and we always like to vary the location. Previous destinations have included US resorts like Jackson Hole and Lake Tahoe, Canadian resorts like Whistler and Banff, and European resorts including St. Moritz, Switzerland and Chamonix, France.

Nordic-style skiing requires terrain that is quite different from alpine or downhill skiing, so we often plan a separate trip to locales with an assortment of trails, for our members who prefer watching the scenery pass by at less than 20 mph. These trips are usually over a weekend and may even be included with one of our regular excursions to Mammoth Mountain, or setup entirely at a nordic-skiing resort.

Other Activities
Of course, the year would not be complete without mentioning a number of non-winter activities, and though the main focus of our trips is on snow skiing, the club has organized a number of trips revolving around different activities to enjoy the outdoors.  Previous trips have included whitewater rafting, kayaking, scuba diving, fishing, hiking, and swimming. We’ve also conducted summer trips to Mammoth Lakes, Lake Havasu, Catalina Island, the Kern River, and the American River.
