Scholarships

The Rotary Club of Snow Hill supports education in our community by awarding college scholarships to area high school graduates. Details on our scholarship programs are as follows.

Larry Knudsen Service Scholarship

Beginning in 2018, the Rotary Club of Snow Hill designates $6000 (one scholarship for $1500 renewable for 3 years) to be awarded to a Snow Hill High School graduate who is a role model in their class in the area of service to their school and community.

Lauritz “Larry” Knudsen was a member and past president of the Snow Hill Rotary Club. He was instrumental in the recruitment of many current Snow Hill Rotary Club members. He is fondly remembered by the club as an advocate for children and a proponent of community service. Larry served on the boards of Haven House Ministry and Furnace Town Museum, was an elder of Makemie Presbyterian Church, and an Eagle Scout.  Larry was a proud veteran.

Prior to 2018, five $1,000 one-year scholarships were awarded to deserving Snow Hill area high school students.

Laurel Anderson Nursing Scholarship

The Rotary Club of Snow Hill has awarded scholarships for 2nd-career students since 2016. The scholarship is named in honor of longtime Club member and nurse, Laurel Anderson. The scholarship will award $1,000 for each year of the 2-year nursing program at Wor-Wic college.
