Nintendo Wii Australian release confirmed.

Nintendo have confirmed the Australian release date and price for the upcoming Wii.
$399.95 RRP, December 7th.

This is a great move for Nintendo. With Sony recently pushing their release date well into next year, Nintendo will have a market to dominate come christmas time. At a price that low, I think Nintendo expect to see some solid figures, and good on them.

This release date sees us a few weeks behind America, who are getting their hands on Wii on the 19th of November. Japan get their Wii 5 days before on December 7th, while we’re one day before Europes 8th December launch.

The $399.95 package will include a Wii remote controller, a Nunchuck controller (the left hand attachment) and Wii sports, a 5 sport game collection. Impressions predict this disc will be similar to a pack of 5 mini games, designed to show off the funky stuff Wii can do. Phonetic pun intentional.

December 7th, $399.95 RRP

For those of you who purchased Super Mario 64 DS can imagine what the disc will be like, so i’m not expecting anything groundbreaking there, other than tech demos. It’s nice that they include something with the console though, if you can’t pick up a launch title straight away but still want to be in on the console launch. Wii sports still has the potential to impress though. This is one of those titles that are hard to predict until you have it in your hand.

There’s a hefty line up ready to ship all over the world too. Nintendo Wii will burst out with roughly 50 launch titles, listed here. Included in this line up is Metroid Prime 3 : Corruption, The Legend Of Zelda - Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy and many more possible blockbusters.

Should be smooth rolling for Nintendo from here. Unless Microsoft pull an ace card out of their sleeve (Halo 3), or some $999 competition rolls along…

Xbox 360 Laptop.

The net famous and talented modder Ben Heckendorn has released pictures and video of his latest masterpiece, The Xbox 360 Laptop (If his site is still down here is a mirror).

Ben has made many a great mod in his time but this has got to be up near the top, I would (if I had the cash) buy one of these and I can't understand why this guy isn't on Microsoft’s payroll yet.

Check out the video:       YouTube         mp4 (5.2MB)

Go here or here for Hi-Res versions of the below pictures.

First Playstation 3 Commercial.

The first commercial for the Playstation 3 has been released and like most of Sony's commercials it's incredibly stupid. Most of the ad is video of some guy working out (live-action footage) while some English chick talks about video game artificial intelligence; then there’s a few seconds of the game "Resistance - Fall of men" which looks pretty cool but nothing that special.

Overall the ad fails to impress and at this critical moment impress is exactly what Sony need to do, especially with the Europe and Australian release of the PS3 delayed until March 2007.

You can download or stream the commercial here or on YouTube.

Sam & Max: Episode 1.

“Holy jumping mother O'God in a side-car with chocolate
jimmies and a lobster bib! WE'RE ON OUR WAY!"

Sam & Max: Hit the Road was one of the funniest if not funniest games ever to be made, so back in 2004 when the highly anticipated sequel was cancelled I was pretty annoyed.

Well I'm all chipper again because the new sequel being made by Telltale Games is just over a month away from release. Telltale Games recently announced the released date for the first episode; October 17th on GameTap (USA only) and November 1st as a download from the Telltale Games site.

The game is to be released in monthly episodic parts, the first one will be approximately 70MB (which seems small to me); the price has yet to be announced.

Check out the press release and the official website for more information on the game.

Melbourne Gaming Expos.

For those of you lucky enough to live in or near the great city of Melbourne, Australia, you will be pumped to know that we have two awesome gaming expos happening in November.

First up we have the GAME1 Electronics and Gaming Expo, on the 4th and 5th of November at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. The event has been organised by the people behind the successful Auto Salon car shows, and will be running in conjunction with the Auto Salon. The only confirmed production companies to be exhibiting are Rockstar Games and Electronic Arts but we should have more information closer to the date. The other features of the expo will be a Live Tournament Challenge, a portable gaming area, and an Australian games area where some of the best Australian game production companies will show of what they have in the works, and hopefully impress the hell out of everyone.

The next big expo is the eGames & Entertainment Expo which will also be held at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre on the 17th and 19th of November. I believe this event will be similar to GAME1 but I don’t know as there has been no press release yet and no list of Exhibits, but more information is expected closer to the event date.

You can check out the Game1 and eGames & Entertainment Expo official sites for more information, and I will post more information as I get it.

Both events should be lots of fun and I know I will be attending so I hope to see you there.

 Miami Vice (PSP) Review.

Here is my review of the movie based game, Miami Vice: The Game, for the Playstation Portable.

Miami Vice: The Game (PSP) Review

Playstation 3 and Playstation Portable news at E3.

This years E3 is pretty big and one of the biggest topics at E3 was what Sony is up to and where the hell the PS3 is.

The folks over at Sony like to tease the consumers a little so it's no surprise they started off with useless facts about the PS2 and slightly more interesting (but not really) list of new games for the PS2 (216 by the end of the year to be exact).

Geek factor: Justice League game, booya!

They then moved on to boring facts about the PSP, and some of the cool new games and accessories.

Soccer... wow... I'm so unbelievably stoked.

Macromedia Flash, Voice over IP, Camera, and GPS... cool.

More PSP goodies, including a Playstation Emulator.

Finally Sony stopped jerking around and brought out what everyone was waiting for, Playstation 3 news.

Dum da da dum, the big one, the PS3... oooh shiny.

Hmm, if this is going to be a same day release that means Australia will get the PS3 several hours before the rest due to the time difference.

Phil must be uber important.

The Playstation 3 launch game? Yet another Gran Turismo game I won't like but everybody will rave about, creatively titled Gran Turismo HD.

I wonder if it's in HD.

Sony then went on about some of the online features.

Sony then revealed their new Playstation 3 controller design.

Sort of reminds me of something.

Duck Commander 2007, so real you will think your commanding a real rubber duck.

Gyro sensors... yeah that's not a half assed ripoff.

Games, games and more games.

 Metal Gear Solid: Gun Eater?

State of the art boob physics.

For a more detailed discription of the events check out the article over at Engadget.

Nintendo Revolution = Nintendo Wii.

Nintendo have officially announced the true name of the Nintendo Revolution, The Nintendo Wii. Trust Nintendo to name there system after taking a wiz (a leak, draining the snake, going for a piss, etc.), I thought the Nintendo Go name was bad but jeez. I know they’re Japanese but I'm sure there would of been plenty of English speaking people working for them that could of said something along the lines of, "That's the stupidest thing I have ever heard." or even a simple, "Hahahahahaha wee hahahahahaha, I quit."

I was willing to give Nintendo's new console a go, but if they can't take themselves seriously neither can I. Japanese people just keep getting weirder.

24/04/06 *Updated*

First screenshots of a Nintendo Revolution game.

Update: Some higher resolution pictures of "Redsteel" have been released. Click to enlarge.

The first screenshots of a Nintendo Revolution game have been released, and truthfully even though I have been pretty negative towards the Revolution, this game looks pretty cool.

The game is called "RedSteel" and if these pictures are anything to go by it looks great. It is being created by Ubisoft and has a lot riding on it, this will be the game people think of when they think of the Revolution so if it sucks... well thats not going to be a good launch for the Revolution.

Note the sword fighting in the above pic, cool. So far the info on the game is that it will be multiplayer and that it is controlled a lot like an arcade gun game but with a bit more interactivity.

Command and Conquer 3 first look.

Personally one of the games that I'm looking forward to the most is Command and Conquer 3, so I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw these scans from the new issue of PC Gamer (U.S Edition).

The article in the issue of PC gamer describes the game as, "the world has been thrown into chaos due to the spread of Tiberium. As a result 20% of the Earth's surface has become Tiberium-infested and is now inhospitable (these areas are Red Zones). Tiberium hasn't fully taken hold of 50% of the Earth (these areas are Yellow Zones) and the rest of the Earth is more or less safe (these areas are called Blue/Green zones) this area is also where the GDI is headquartered. The GDI is trying to prevent the spread of Tiberium and convert the Yellow Zones to Blue Zones."

Now this basically means that this is without a doubt a C&C game set in the Tiberium story line and not in the Red Alert or Generals story lines.

Also big news is that the article says that the game will run on a heavily modified version of the SAGE Engine (C&C Generals), Kane (original C&C bad guy) will be returning and that this game will have live-action cut-scenes.

All I can say is "HELL YEAH!", this game looks awesome and I'm stoked that there going back to the older games style, badly acted live-action cut-scenes kickass.

Crysis trailer.

When the basically unknown group Crytek released Farcry in 2004 everyone was blown away, it had graphics that just hadn't been seen before. Well Crytek have done it again and this time it’s bordering on the ridiculous.

Check out the trailer that premiered this year at the GDC (Game Developers Conference):

Possible new Nintendo Revolution name.

*UPDATE: Word on the street is that the Nintendo Go name is a fake, the below pictures are fakes, very good ones but still fakes.*

Some leaked photos from the GDC (Game Developers Conference) seem to point to the new name of the Nintendo Revolution being the Nintendo Go.

Is it real? I don't know but if it is all I can say is Nintendo are stupid and they might as well just call it the Nintendo Gay.

Check out the original article here.

God of War 2 footage.

Some shaky came footage of God of War 2 has been released, and it looks kickass. God of War was an awesome game released last year for the Playstation 2, it was received well and went on to win many awards. God of war 2 if it lives up to the first should sell very well, I know I'm looking forward to it.

Check it out here

Hail to the king, baby.

To celebrate 8 years of the ironically named, "Duke Nukem: Forever" taking forever to be made here are some of the original incarnations of the game.

Duke Nukem: Forever, E3 1998, Quake II engine.

Duke Nukem: Forever, E3 2001, Unreal engine.

I can't help but notice how similar the 2001 Unreal engine version of "Duke Nukem: Forever" is to "Half-life 2" but with worse graphics.

New Nintendo Revolution Photos.

*Update: I may of made a mistake while looking at these pictures, turns out that the stand is removable and it can lay horizontally. So to reiterate the actual Revolution looks cool but the controller is still gay.*

New photos of Nintendo's next generation console, dubbed Revolution (though there is a rumour that Nintendo are going to change the name), have been released. They were taken at the 2006 Game Developers Conference, and are fairly good except maybe a bit dark. Personally, I think it looks stupid.

First off who wants a console that stands up, I don't know about you but I have a entertainment cabinet where everything sits horizontally so the Revolution would just be the annoying bright white box on the ground.

Secondly what the hell is with the controller, it looks like some kind of weird remote controlled vibrator. The Revolution is going to tank hard, and trust me unless Nintendo do something to step up their game five years from now they're gonna be just like Sega.

Battlefield 2142 - Confirmed and Trailer released.

Another sequel to the highly popular Battlefield series has been confirmed with the out of no where release of a trailer.

Battlefield 2142 is the futuristic version of the Top Selling PC game Battlefield 2, it uses the same engine but with some  tweaks nothing too spectacular to the graphics so far but the game isn't out to next year so no way of knowing if its going to basically be a expansion or not. I do like the whole fight for what’s left of the planet "story" though, adds a touch of chaos to it.

Check out the cool trailer over here

Xbox360's camera and software revealed.

First pictures of the Xbox360's camera and the programs for it have been released, take a look here.

The facial mapping software called digimask seems very cool and hopefully there will be quite a few games that use it.  Also the last picture is of a new game that displays your opponent in your on screen display which brings me back to the good old days of Wolfenstein and Doom.

A Playstation delayed? Really? huh, never would have thought.

For those of you who didn't pick up on it I was being sarcastic in the heading because, of course, the Playstation 2 was delayed and now Sony has just admitted that the Playstation 3 could be as well.

A lot of people have been guessing that Sony won't be able to make their Spring (North Hemisphere) release date for the Playstation 3, but Sony have just admitted that the Playstation 3 may be delayed and that if it is it will be because of problems with mass production of the Blu-Ray drives being used in them.

Sony Spokesperson quoted saying, "The highest quality picture is vital to the PS3. There is a possibility of delay [to the launch] if delivery of parts is delayed."

The article stating this, found here (Japanese), also goes on to suggest that it would put the launch of until after October.

Well I can't say I'm not surprised I really didn't see the PS3 coming out in America and Japan in May, I mean there still isn't reports out of anyone playing the thing and Sony has been extremely quite about it. Personally I think that the Xbox360 will sell better just for the fact that its going to be much cheaper and has more features, such as the new Xbox Live system.

Free = Crap? Not necessarily.

Games now days can cost an absolute butt-load there like $80 and thats just your average game, MMORPG's like World of Warcraft are $80 plus $30 every 3 months.

So a lot of gamers do whatever they can to get games for free but you don't always have to resort to piracy. has just released a list of the 101 Best Free Games, these are games you can download and play for nothing. It's order by genre and there are some quite good games in there the only down side being that most of the better ones are Mods which means they are free expansions too a game you have to pay for.

But still when it comes down to it were all cheap bastards inside so go here, and download till you go over you limit.
