The S.N. Bose Biography Project is a journey of discovery for Falguni Sarkar, a grandson of Satyendra Nath Bose. Falguni knew Bose only for a short time as a child, but grew up outside of India, out of the shadow of his famous grandfather. He always knew that his grandfather was world renowned, but never really knew his impact. Then one day in 1995, Falguni saw his grandfather on the front page of the New York Times heralding the discovery of the Bose Einstein Condensate by physicists in University of Colorado and MIT who eventually win the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2001. Intrigued about what people referred to as the Holy Grail of Atomic Physics, Falguni set out to discover more about his dadu.
On and off over the past decade Falguni has been researching the life of S.N. Bose and has read about the history of quantum physics, talked to relatives and those that knew Bose, and interviewed dozens of people. This web site includes some of the information about Bose that Falguni has uncovered, and previews the biography that he is researching. The S.N. Bose Biography Project is a labour of love for Falguni, and seeks to gather information on Bose and let the world know about this remarkable individual.
