Welcome to the Smoky Hill High School Orchestra Homepage!

Most orchestra related information will be on this site, and on the SHHS Orchestra Schoology page. If there is any information that you do not see here, you can contact Mrs. Chelsea Peele at cpeele@cherrycreekschools.org.

The Smoky Hill High School Orchestra program consists of a comprehensive performance-based curriculum which uses traditional and standard repertoire to teach technique, musicality, and music theory through the study of string instruments.
The SHHS Orchestra program offers two orchestras: String Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra. Both groups preform at least four times per year under the direction of Ms. Peele. The Chamber Ensemble Club meets after school on Wednesdays to rehearse for community performances throughout the year.
The SHHS Orchestra program has a very rich history, with the notable Larry West having expanded and built the program as Smoky Hill grew larger in the 1980's and 1990's. Under Chelsea Peele's direction, the orchestras have performed twice with the international renowned "Lehnert Trio," Have had opportunities to work with esteemed conductors if the Aurora Symphony Orchestra, the Front Range Youth Orchestras, the Arapahoe Philharmonic Orchestra , and perform competitively around the state. The Orchestra department has boasted increased enrollment each year being supported by a exponentially larger number of beginners from both Laredo and Horizon Middle Schools.
