May 6, 2017 Cleanup of Feldspar Dr.

posted May 6, 2017, 3:40 PM by Jonathan Fleming

Here are some pictures for our cleanup of Feldspar Drive in District 7.  Neighbors called the DOT and Code Enforcement 12 times in the past two month to have them clean the fallen trees and pick up the trash plaguing this area of our City.  When it became apparent that they would not do it, we took matters into our own hands and started the cleanup!  If here is a street near you needing to be cleaned up, please let us know!  SMNASJ@gmail.com

Thank you to the Sociology Capstone Students at San Jose State University for your help in this cleanup!

The SMNA would like to thank the Santa Clara Valley Water District, Director Tony Estremera, Rick Callender, Rachael Gibson, and the rest of the staff and engineers who spent part of their Saturday with us to answer all of our questions about the flood, the dam, our drinking water, the environment, and many more topics.

Here are the presentation materials from the Earth Day Anderson Dam Tour the SMNA participated in along with other Neighborhood Associations from District 7.

Coyote Creek Cleanup Day!

posted Apr 15, 2017, 2:32 PM by Jonathan Fleming   [ updated Apr 18, 2017, 3:11 PM ]

April 15, 2017

We had a great time with SMNA members, our SJSU capstone student volunteers, our Mayor, Park Rangers, and other residents from across the South Bay at Coyote Creek today near the Tully Ballfields!  A huge thank you to Deb Kramer for organizing this wonderful event to cleanup our environment and our drinking supply!

At this cleanup, nearly 150 people removed nearly 3 tons of trash including about 100 garbage bags, 10 tires, and several shopping carts.

We need to support our Park Rangers and get them the funding and tools they need to patrol Coyote Creek.  A relatively small amount of money to their department can keep drugs, trash, camps, and people out of our waterways.  Check out below for some pictures!
