*Welcome to 7th Grade Art with Ms. Robertson!

I created this site to be used by both students and parents, mainly, to have easy access to the 7th grade art curriculum and supplemental materials. In order for any student to work to his or her highest potential--and for parents to understand what is expected in order to support student efforts--it is important to have what you need when you need it.
My second reason for creating this site is to share a little bit about me and how I came to be an art educator, a profession I love. I see this website as an extension of what I do in the classroom, a place to share what I know and love as I do in the classroom on a daily basis. I hope through this sharing that students and parents alike will gain a greater understanding of why art is a vital part of any formal education and an academic subject here at Scofield. Further, I hope to inspire a love of creating visual art, or at least instill an appreciation of art and visual expression as a powerful means to communicate ideas and emotions in a way that transcends spoken language and the written word.
So, a little background about me...I attended Stamford Public Schools myself for kindergarten through 12th grade, and have a great appreciation for the vitality and diversity that makes up our city. I have a B.A. in Studio Art with a minor in Psychology from Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, CT, and I earned my M.A. in Art Education from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. After grad school I lived in California for five years, where I began my teaching career, before retuning to Stamford and taking my current position at Scofield beginning the 2004-2005 school year.
I chose to become an art teacher because I love art and I love working with kids, and every fall I look forward to getting to know my new 7th grade students through art-making!
