Volunteer Information

The program will take place at Lennox Middle School in Lennox (near city of Inglewood). The school is located at 11033 Buford Ave., at 111th St. Parking for volunteers is located  at the school entrance on W. 111th Place, on the south side of the school.  Check in at the Volunteer table outside, to sign in and receive your volunteer badge.  Make sure to return your volunteer badge and sign out when you go to the volunteer registration table at the end of your shift.

Note: Dress warmly if it’s a cool day! Some of the volunteer activities will be outside.  Also, there isn't a place to lock up personal belongings such as purses--you will need to keep them with you.

Also please note: We ask that volunteers refrain from talking or texting on their cell phones while they are working. We want this to be a very special day for the families, and ask that volunteers are fully present to their needs and well-being.

Sixty-five families will be arriving each hour between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. After registering,  and a visit with Santa, the children and their parents will be separated. The parents will be escorted through toy rooms to choose the toys, and will proceed to the gift wrap area to have their presents wrapped. In the meantime, the children will be entertained nearby with music, games, face-painting, and arts and crafts. Family members, as well as volunteers, will receive a ticket for lunch. We anticipate about 1,800 family members, and 500 volunteers at the program. 

• • Shift 1 - 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

  • Shift 2 - 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

  • Shift 3 (clean-up only)-5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

All volunteers must check-in at the Volunteer Registration table prior to starting their shift, and check out at the end of their shift!

The morning shift involves a half hour of preparation and orientation before the families arrive. The last shift includes some clean-up. The hour overlap between shifts is for volunteers to train the next shift of volunteers--please try to cover all aspects/nuances of your job in your training. Please don’t plan to stay for more than the shift you are signed up for without checking with the Volunteer Table outside.
