In only a few short years, instructional technology has revolutionized direct instruction by transforming the surface upon which teachers illustrate and share information.  The dry erase whiteboard did little more than give teachers the ability to use color and contrast to draw attention but the electronic whiteboard has added interactivity through touch and multimedia.  It is through these additions that educators hope to increase student attention and engagement in the classroom.
