Slow Food Miami,a local chapter of Slow food USA envisions a future food system that is based on the principles of high quality and taste, environmental sustainability and social justice. A food system that is GOOD CLEAN AND FAIR. We seek a cultural shift from an industrial food system and fast life; toward the regenerative cultural, social and economic benefits of a sustainable food system. We believe in regional food traditions, the pleasures of the table and a slower more harmonious rhythm of life.
What we do
Slow Food Miami is a non-for-profit educational organization supporting the food traditions of South Florida through special events, programs and education. These programs are dedicated to TASTE EDUCATION, DEFENDING BIODIVERSITY AND BUILDING AND SUPPORTING FOOD COMMUNITIES. From the avocado and mango groves of South Florida, to the vibrant farmers markets, to the organic farmers in Homestead, and to the bountiful waters of Biscayne Bay, with their precious supply of stone crabs, red snappers, spiny lobsters and conch we are committed to our food supply, uniquely ours, these foods are part of our cultural identity and our stewardship.
