Grow Gainesville: The Urban Garden Network

We partner with Forage to host Grow Gainesville which is a network on Facebook and on the web. It aims to maximize the food production and security by networking our numerous community gardening resources into ONE location! There are many ways for involvement from helping out in various gardens, helping with the website, newsletters and events planning. Consider becoming a Friend of Grow Gainesville, for a sliding scale membership up to 20$. This helps support the ongoing efforts of the network and will give you access to high quality, locally appropriate seeds for spring and fall garden seasons. Check out the Facebook page, send an email to, and check out where you can sign up for email updates!

Children's Cooking Classes

We are currently working with the P.K. Yonge after school program to provide their students with locally conscious food production and food consumption education. The classes take place every other Wednesday and provide meals to over 90 elementary and middle school students that are cooked with 100% locally produced and purchased ingredients. If you are a local food vendor that is interested in contributing to the program, please contact us at Also, if you are a local school/organization that would like to partner with Slow Food Gainesville and create a similar program, feel free to contact us as well.

Slow Food Happy Hours

Slow Food Gainesville is committed to promoting local businesses that share our ideas about building vibrant communities around ethical and local food consumption. We are currently working with The Jones B-Side, a local restaurant that we feel deserves recognition for their dedication to producing food that is good, clean, and fair. If you are a local restaurant that is interested in forming a similar partnership with Slow Food Gainesville, please contact us at so that we may recognize you for your contributions to the local community.
